Charis Bible College UK offers several different ways to study so that you can put Romans 12:2 into practice and be transformed from the inside out by the renewing of your mind. On thing that sets Charis apart is that our curriculum is entirely based on the Bible. In fact, the Bible is the only text book for nearly all of our courses.
Here is a brief description of the various programmes of study we offer.
First Year
We believe in the importance of academics, but those who are going into the ministry must know how to minister! We strive for a balance between knowledge of Scripture and practical ministry experiences.
First-year courses include Relationship with God, Basics of Righteousness, Receiving from God, and Old Testament Survey to name a few. The curriculum was designed to give students a solid biblical foundation with an emphasis on faith, grace and walking with the Holy Ghost through the work of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In addition to classes, first-year students are required to volunteer 20 hours each term (3 months) in practical ministry either in a local church, at their local Charis Bible College campus, or other Charis-approved ministries. There are many opportunities to serve depending on your interests, talents, and availability. Each one provides great opportunities for learning!
Upon completion of the first-year programme, students receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to enter the second-year Practical Ministry Training at Charis Bible College. Apply now to begin your training!
Second Year
Where the first year sets your foundation in the Word, the second year builds upon it with courses aimed at teaching you to share what you have learned with the world through cross cultural mission trips and practical ministerial training. The emphasis is on learning by doing. The second-year is offered in both Day and Night School sessions.
Second-year courses such as New Testament Survey, Ministry of Excellence, Discipleship Evangelism, and Making of a Minister further progress your training. In addition to regular classes, students also engage in Inter-Action Groups (IAGs) – small workshops designed to help you fine tune and practice skills such as public speaking, preparing teachings, prayer, etc.
Missions
All second-year students are required to go on a Charis planned mission trip as part of their requirements for graduation. We believe that mission trips are a valuable part of ministry training. Students learn how to function as a team in a foreign culture and unfamiliar surroundings, as well as, how to share the Gospel and communicate through an interpreter. These are life-changing trips. Even if you don’t plan to minister on foreign fields, these trips will expand your world vision and grant you insight to help those who are called to missions.
Charis mission trips are typically between 7-10 days in length. Trips are scheduled throughout the school year and require students to minister through teaching, evangelism, prayer, and drama to both adults and children of different nations. Locations change from year to year based upon hosts and scheduling restrictions. Mission trips are financed through school supported fund raisers that students organize throughout the year.
Upon successfully completing the second-year programme, students will receive a diploma in Biblical Studies.
For many students, this will fulfill their educational goals, but for those called to full-time ministry they continue on to our third-year Ministry Training.
Third Year Intern Programme
The third year leadership programme will be available to those who apply and are accepted by the Charis staff. This will be based upon the character, integrity, and calling on a student’s life as recognized by the administration. The interns will be those who feel a call to open a Charis Bible college somewhere in the world, or to go in to full time ministry.
Correspondence
Begin when you’re ready, study at your own pace and allow God to change your life. We understand not everyone is able to move to our campus location, but our correspondence course is nearly as good as being there! Whether you desire to prepare for the ministry or sit under great teaching for personal development, this Correspondence Programme will get you started.
The programme is made up of our first-year class sessions, recorded live, edited, and reproduced in DVD or CD format. That’s over 200 hours of teaching by Andrew Wommack and the other Charis instructors divided into (3) terms. Each class consists of 8-DVDs or CDs, a syllabus, and an exam. Each class is approximately (6) hours long.
Once you finish the first-year of Bible College, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. You are then eligible to attend the second-year Practical Ministry Training Programme at one of our Charis Bible College UK campuses, or one of our Charis Bible College locations around the world. The hands-on nature of our second-year programme requires students to attend at a Charis campus location. This second-year programme cannot be offered by correspondence.
The Charis correspondence programme can be used for a variety of purposes:
- Personal Edification
- Home Bible Study
- Part of a Home School Curriculum
- In-Church Bible School
- Leadership Training
Part Time
Our part-time programme takes place on Saturdays. Students meet at their local Charis campus two Saturdays each month for live instruction, worship, discussion groups, and other practical training. Then between each live meeting they are assigned course material to complete at home, primarily consisting of watching class video instruction.
